Upload a track and get its BPM instantly, or tap along to the beat manually. The detector analyzes the first 60 seconds of your file and returns a tempo reading with a confidence level and classification. Everything runs locally, your audio never leaves your device.

How to use it

  1. Drag and drop an audio file onto the tool, use the file picker, or click the record button to capture live audio from your microphone.
  2. Wait a few seconds for analysis to complete automatically.
  3. Read the detected BPM, confidence level, and tempo classification (e.g., "Upbeat," "Energetic / Dance," "Fast / Driving").
  4. If the automatic result seems off, switch to tap tempo mode and tap along to the beat yourself, aim for at least 16–20 taps for a stable reading.

FAQ

Why does the detected BPM look exactly double or half what I expected? This is normal, the algorithm can lock onto a subdivision or a higher-level pulse instead of the main beat. Simply halve or double the result to get the value you are looking for.

How accurate is the detector on songs with irregular rhythms or ambient intros? Sections without a clear beat, ambient intros, rubato passages, or irregular time signatures, can lower accuracy. Use tap tempo for those cases, or trim the file to a section with clear drums or rhythm before analyzing.

Does the tool analyze the whole file or just a portion? The detector analyzes the first 60 seconds. For most commercially produced music this is enough to capture a reliable reading.

What formats can I upload? All common audio and video formats are accepted (MP3, WAV, OGG, FLAC, M4A, WebM, MP4), up to 200 MB. You can also record directly from your microphone using the record button.
